If you’re looking for the peaceful, laid back life of the country but with all the conveniences of life in the city, Pfafftown might be the place for you. This small, unincorporated community of about 10,000 people lies just northwest of the city of Winston-Salem. A strong sense of history has helped Pfafftown keep its identity even as much of its land has been annexed into the neighboring cities of Winston-Salem and Lewisville. The community was founded in 1786 by Peter Pfaff, a blacksmith originally from Germany who came to North Carolina from York, Pennsylvania. Pfaff and his descendants took great pride in their community, something that holds true today as residents continue to celebrate living in Pfafftown, with community festivals and strong support of the local schools.
Children in Pfafftown will attend Vienna Elementary, Meadowlark Middle and Reagan High School. These schools are a part of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school district.
